Welcome to the Kaizen Academy's email update on forthcoming events. There are a lot of events in January, so please read the newsletter and note the events that apply to you.

Last Holiday Sweaty Class
The last holiday sweaty class is on Saturday 3 January 2009 from 8am to about 9am. Come along and work off some of the holiday excess.
Classes for 2009
The first day for classes in 2009 is Monday 5 January 2009.
There are no changes to the structure of classes for 2009, apart from new Instructors for a couple of classes.
Reduced Kids Classes in January 2009
There will be reduced Kids classes in January 2009 with only one class from 4pm to 4:45pm, open to all kids, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday. There are NO classes on Mondays until the start of February 2009.
Normal kids classes will resume from Monday 2 February 2009.
Kyu Gradings for 2009
The dates for the Kyu gradings in 2009 are set out below:
Kids below Green belt
- Saturday 4 April 2009 - 2pm at the Dojo
- Saturday 8 August 2009 - 2pm at the Dojo
- Saturday 12 December 2009 - 9am at the Dojo
Adults and All Green Belts and above
- Saturday 14 March 2009 - 9am at the Dojo
- Saturday 13 June 2009 - 9am at the Dojo
- Saturday 12 September 2009 - 9am at the Dojo
- Saturday 12 December 2009 - 11am at the Dojo
Kagami Biraki 2009
Kagami Biraki is the formal celebration of the start of our Karate year. In 2009 Kagami Biraki will be held on Saturday 17 January 2009 starting at 6am.
Please remember to bring food and drink for a shared breakfast at the Dojo after Kagami Biraki.
There will be NO other morning classes on Saturday 17 January 2009. Afternoon classes will run as normal. If you want to get some karate training in on Saturday morning, be at Kagami Biraki or miss out.
Summer Beach Training 2009
Summer Beach training will be held at Oriental Bay on Sunday 25 January 2009.
Beach training will be at Oriental Bay and will start at 9am.
Beach training replaces all other Sunday morning classes on that day.
January School Holiday Programme
The School Holiday Karate Programme is going to be held again in January 2009.
Dates: Tuesday 27 January 2009 to Friday
30 January 2009
Times: 9am to 12 Noon.
Costs: $50 for all four mornings or $15 per morning.
Ages: Minimum age is 10 years old, except by arrangement with Shihan Ben.
Grades: Minimum grade is Blue Belt, except by arrangement with Shihan Ben.
If any adult, kyu grade or Black Belt, is able to assist Shihan Ben, please contact Shihan.
If you would like to attend, please reply to this email and we will add you to the list.
2009 Summer Camp
The 2009 Summer Camp for Seido Karate in the Wellington region will be held from Friday 13 February 2009 to Sunday 15 February 2009 at Forest Lakes Camp south of Otaki.
Keep this weekend free and plan to attend.
2009 Seido Karate South Africa International Event and Benefit Tournament
Seido Karate South Africa is hosting an International Event and Benefit Tournament in 2009. The event will be held in Cape Town from 3 December 2009 to 6 December 2009. Karateka from Seido Dojos all over the world will be attending this event.
If you think that you would like to attend, please let Senpai Rebecca Mason, the Club Captain, know, and we will see if we can get a team together.
Lost Property
If you have lost any clothing, please look in the lost property box located by the shoe rack and claim what is yours.
