NEWSLETTER OCTOBER 2007 Welcome to Kaizen Academy's email update on forthcoming events. First Tuesday of the Month - ALL Grades Tuesday, 2 October 2007, is the first Tuesday in October. The normal 6pm Beginner's class and the 7pm General class are replaced with a combined class for all students - Beginner's, graded members and Black belts. Shihan Ben would like you to invite your friends and work colleagues to the First Tuesday class. So "Bring A Friend". The class runs from 6pm to 7:30pm and is followed by a small social with pizza and non-alcoholic drinks. First Wednesday of the Month - Black Belts ================================== Wednesday, 3 October 2007, is the first Wednesday in October. The normal 6pm Black Belt class for Sandan and above and the 7pm Black Belt class for Shodan and Nidan are replaced with a combined Black Belt class. This class runs from 6pm to 7:30pm. Please remember to bring your sparring gear. WEEKEND CLASS TIMETABLE The weekend timetable changed in September. Below is the confirmed timetable for weekends until the end of 2007. The Saturday afternoon classes have been started in response to the need to cater for people who are busy in the mornings on the weekends. Saturdays 8am to 9am - Fitness and Conditioning - Sensei Rob

Doug The Saturday afternoon Beginners' class would be an ideal class to "Bring a Friend" and introduce them to Seido Karate. SPRING MEMBERSHIP PROMOTION Membership Drive The Kaizen Academy is holding a Spring Membership Promotion from September to December. Bring along a new member during that time period and if they grade in December, YOU WILL RECEIVE A MONTHS FREE TRAINING. Every new member will be given a Blue Free Training Card for eight free training classes. On the back of the card we will write the name of the new member and the person who introduced them. So if you have someone you would like to introduce to Seido Karate, please bring them along to any Beginners classes (Adults and Secondary school - Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm, and Saturday at 3pm, or Kids Beginners classes - Monday 4pm, Tuesday 5pm and Thursday 4pm). Remember that the Tuesday class on 4 September 2007 is a first Tuesday of the month class running from 6pm to 7:30pm. OTHER SEIDO EVENTS AND NEWS FOR OCTOBER October School Holiday Programme The School Holiday programme will be run in the second week of the school holidays. Dates: Tuesday 2 October 2007 to Friday 5
October 2007. Remember to bring along some food/drink for a shared morning tea on each morning you attend the school holiday programme. Stripe testing will also take place during the school holiday programme. If you wish to attend, please reply to this email. 2007 Inter-Dojo Tournament and Dinner/Dance - Saturday 13 October 2007 ========================================================== The Seido Karate Lower Hutt Dojo is celebrating its third birthday by hosting the 2007 Inter-Dojo Tournament followed by a Dinner/Dance. We have full details of the Tournament and Dinner/Dance available for download from our website. People are already organising their Kata and Team Kata for the event so why not participate? Poster 431 kB Achievement Stripe Testing - First week in October 2007 =============================================== Stripe testing is being conducted next week. If you are ready for testing for one of your stripes, please see your instructor before class. The Stripe requirements for all Kyu grades and all age groups are on the front desk. New beginners (White Belts) need to gain their first stripe, Advanced White Belts need to gain their two additional stripes, and ALL other Kyu grades will need their three stripes to be able to grade. December Kyu Gradings The next Kyu gradings are in December.
You will need to have achieved ALL Three Stripes before you are eligible to grade. You fees will also need to be up to date. Remember that Grading fees, Honbu fees and new belt costs are now included in your monthly training fee. Sport Karate League Round 4 - Sunday 28 October 2007 =============================================== The fourth round of the Sport Karate League in Wellington is being held at our Dojo on the afternoon of Sunday 28 October 2007. Checkin Time: 12 Noon See Shihan Ben if you are interested in participating. Training Fee Increase The Kaizen Academy has recently introduced a new training fee structure. See the website for details of our current fee structure. If you have not updated your Automatic Payment amount please do so promptly. Please note that unwaged adults are now included under the heading of "individual concessions". If you have any questions about this fee increase please talk to Jun Shihan Ben or Chris at the Dojo or reply to this email. Family Training Fee Concession Following feedback on the recent fee increase we have amended the Family Concession Training Fee. The Family Concession training fee is now set at the standard fee for the first two family members based on Adults, then Children. Third, fourth and fifth family members pay no additional monthly training fees. For example: Two adults and three children, only pay for two adults ($180/$160); One adult and four children, only pay for one adult and one child ($140/$125); Five children, only pay for two children ($100/$90). Lost Property We are accumulating a pile of lost property at the Dojo. If you have lost any clothing, please look in the lost property box located by the shoe rack and claim what is yours. Photos on Website A selection of photos taken at the June Kyu Gradings, and at the Shodan Grading of Senpai Miles Cranston, Andrea Logan, Alex Neiman, and Simon Claxton, and the Kata section of the Seido Karate North Island Tournament are now posted on our website.
